STEP TOWARD DICTATORSHIP. KING IN CONTROL OF ARMY. (United Press Association —Copyright.) LONDON, February 7. The Athens correspondent of the “Daily Mail” says the King has obtained the Government’s approval of a new law giving him sole control of the army thus enabling him to solve the political deadlock through the Royalist opposition to the amnesty provisions, and through the Venizelist and anti-Venizelist parties having secured almost the same number of seats at the recent elections. The King if he wishes, can now overrule the opposition of Royalist officeis who refuse to accept even the partial reinstatement of Venizelist officers who were dismissed or banished after the March revolution. By merely signing a decree he can remove any military leaders opposing him, replacing them by bis own supporters. The King’s action is regarded in some circles as a step toward a modified dictatorship. , On November 4, King George of Greece, was restored, 95 per cent of the people have voted freely for Ins restoration.
