THE WEATHER.
WARM AND SUNNY TO-DAY. The morning in Ashburton was warm and sunny. The sky was clear early, tending to elpud over later. A light south-westerly wind was blowing. The maximum temperature yesterday was 70.9 degrees, and the minimum last night 54.3 degrees. The barometer had fallen at- 9 o’clock this morning to 29.61 inches from 29.81 yesterday morning. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: General inference: A shallow depression still lies across the Dominion, but is moving eastward slowly. Pressure is still high to the east. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — Moderate to strong northerly winds prevailing at first, but a change to moderate southerlies advancing from the south. Weather changeable and with scattered intermittent rains, but later improving. Temperatures moderate. Seas rather rough in Cook Strait, elsewhere moderate.
