MOTOR-CYCLING.

THE ASHBURTON CLUB. A special committee meeting of the Ashburton Motor-cycle Club was held last evening, ■ those present being Messrs G. T. Clarke (chairman), A. Weir, E. Smith, R. Anthony, R. Amos, R. Chambers, T. H. Farley and the secretary (Mr W. J. Dailey). Four new members were elected. It was decided to hold the annual grass hill climb at Cavendish, on the property of Mr Glasson, members to leave the traffic bridge at 10 a.m. on November 24.

It was decided to hold the following classes:—3so c.c., s.v. or o.h.v. with novice section ; 550 c.c., s.v. with novice section: unlimited c.c. with

novice section; private owners’ unlimited for A.M.C.C. members only; grass hill climb championship; consolation handicap. The first three classes will be open to all financial members of any motorcycle club, and classes 4 and 5 for members of the A.M.C'.C. only. The following officials were appointed: —Judge, Mr J. R. Leask'; timekeepers, Messrs W. J. Preddy and C. Piekford; starter, Mr G. T. Clarke; marshal, .Mr W. J. Dailey. The competitors will be permitted to use only straight petrol, anyone using dope to> be disqualified. Special tyres, chains or ropes will be allowed on the rear wheel of machines.
