ARRESTED IN SYDNEY
McARTHUR TO BE TRIED.
PROSPECTUS IN NEW ZEALAND.
United Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, October 4. John William Shaw McArthur, aged 52, a company director, appeared at the Central Court to-day on a provisional warrant alleging the issue of a false prospectus in New Zealand. When the police asked for an adjournment McArthur’s solicitor (Dr. F. Louat) said that it was a political stunt on the part of the Government of New Zealand.
There was nothing new in the prospectus, which was two and a half years old. The whole of the affairs of the company, Dr. Louat explained, were investigated 14 months ago by five Governments. There was a complete answer to the allegation, and every word in the prospectus was literally time. McArthur was remanded till October 18, bail being fixed at £250.
