THE WEATHER
ANOTHER FINE, DAY. Conditions were pleasant in Ashburton to-day. There was a haze of clouds in the sky, but the temperature rose through the morning. The thermometer readied 59.3 degrees yesterday, and in the night went down to 39.7 degrees. Rain fell for a while in the middle of the night, the gauge registering four points. The barometer stood at 29.75 inches this morning.
TO-DAY'S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather General inference: A rather deep westerly depression extends across the South Island. Pressure is rising over the western Tasman Sea. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: —
Strong north-westerly winds, backing to south-westerly in about 24 hours. Weather changeable and squally, with scattered rain, becoming cooler to-mor-row. Seas rougV offshore.
