Mr G. B. Williams (manager of the Ashburton Municipal Abattoir) will go on annual leave to-day and his place will be taken by Mr T. L. Wright.

Mr H. D. Johnston left Ashburton this afternoon for Dunedin, where he will represent the Ashburton Boxing Association at the annual conference of the New Zealand Boxing Association to-morrow. He will act as referee at the Dominion championships on the following three days.

Two resignations, that of [Professor R. Speight, curator of the Canterbury Museum, and iV£r A. F. Morrison, lecturer in mechanical engineering at Canterbury College, were accepted with regret by the Canterbury College Council yesterday. Both have given long service to the college, Professor Speight in various capacities for 45 years, and Mr Morrison for 43 years. Professor Speight’s retirement will take effect at the end 1 of this year.
