TENNIS.

THE EIFFELTON CLUB. At the annual meeting of the Eiffelfow. Tennis Club Mi- S. P. Taylor presided. The report showed that a successful season had been experienced fast year. The following officers were .elected : President, Mr P. Sheehan; chib captain, Mr N. Stoddart; vice-captain, Miss’ Ethel Anderson; honorary secretary, Mr H. H. Hawkins; committee. Misses' M. Stevens, J. Taylor. Iv. McQuillan, Messrs P. Sheehan, jun., R. Davidson and G. McQuilkin; delegates to Mid-Canterbury Lawn Tennis SubAssociation, Messrs N. iStoddart and H. H. Hawkins, The official opening of the c-luh was held on the Kiffelton courts on Saturday, when there was a. good attendance of members and representatives ol tho Willowhv and Ashburton Tennis Clubs. The president (Mr Sheehan) declared the season open, commenting on the progress the club had made during the

last year. Messrs R. Chapman (Willow by) and L. Crooks (Ashburton) also spoke. A Yankee tournament was held and was won by R. Davison and Miss E Henderson.

THE HIGHBANK CLUB. The official opening of the Higlibank Tennis Club’s season took place on Saturday afternoon in perfect weather. An exceptionally large attendance of members and visitors from Methven and kindred clubs was present. The president (Mr O. J. Stewart) extended a welcome to all, and! hoped they would enjoy a successful season. Mr P. Quinn (patron) played the first hall, and duly declared the season open. Mr S. M. Jackman, of the Methven Club, responded on behalf of the visitors, and friendly games were played until a late hour. Afternoon tea was provided.
