A Jewish merchant named Halberstadt has been sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment for “offending” Germany. He returned a letter from a German firm unopened, writing on the envelope, “I refuse to deal with Germany as long as Hitler rules.” The German authorities protested] to Poland, resulting in the arrest of Halberstadt.
