A thirteen-year-old; Sunderland girl Gladys Smithson, has created an unofficial record, by skipping 18,000 revolutions in just under two and a-quarter hours. It is estimated that if she had moved' forward a. yard for each skip during the 18,000 revolutions she would have covered over ten miles.
