TWO MOTORISTS INJURED. CAR STRIKES TREE STUMP. HASTINGS, September 20. Two men are in the Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, one of them in a serious condition, through the car in which they wore travelling along the Omahu Road early this morning striking a tree stump. Mr Leonard Harrison is suffering from injuries to his head, and he is reported to be in a serious condition. Mr Herbert Vincent Spooner is recovering from injuries to his chin. A party was returning from a ball at Fernhill. The car was driven by Mr Harrison, and contained Messrs Norman Trillo, Spooner and Arnold Green, all of Hastings. When near the hospital the car collided with the stump of a tree on the roadside. What caused the car to leave the bitumen surface of the road is not yet known.
