PLEASANT CONDITIONS TO-DAY. Glorious spring weather conditions were experienced in Ashburton to-day, following a few showers ol rain in the early morning. The sky was dotted with clouds, but the sun shone almost continually. The rain gauge registered two points of rain up to 9 o’clock this morning, and the frost gauge a reading of 5 degrees. The maximum temperature yesterday was 61.6 degrees, and the minimum reading was 32.2 degrees. The barometer stood at 30.01 inches at 9 o’clock to-day.

TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General inference: An anti-cyclone covers New Zealand, while a depression is situated west of Norfolk Island. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: —. Light, variable winds, later tending to north-easterly. Weather fine and milder, but night cold with sharp frosts. Seas smooth to moderate.
