THE FIFTH! DAY SESSIONS.

RESULTS ANNOUNCED TO-DAY

The sessions of the Ashburton Competitions Society’s festival to-day attracted large attendances to the Majestice Theatre, where a number of very interesting and entertaining classes were heard. Chief interest this morning lay in the sword dance championship, in which ten competitors took part. The final will be seen this evening, when one of the best programmes of the festival will be presented. Results up to the time the “Guardian” went to press w'ere as follow, competitors being resident in Ashburton unless otherwise stated Vocal Section. SONG, gentlemen, New Zealand composer. Own selection. Recalls—Messrs T. Edmund Douds (Palmerston North), A. J. Miles Cadman (Opawa). Highly commended—Mr J. Landon Crisp (Fendalton). Also competed—Messrs Sydney Webster, Charlie Keer (Fairlie), Allan J. Gainsford (Riccarton), and Len. Brosnahan (Otipua). SOLO, opera, gentlemen. Ovui selection. Recalls—Messrs Allan J. Gainsford (Riccarton) and T. Edmund Douds (Palmerston North). Also competed—Messrs G. Douglas McNeill (Ch.ch), Len. Brosnalian (Otipua), Charlie Keer (Fairlie). SOLO, Gentleman. Ow r n selection.
