AUSTRALIAN AMATEUR TITLE. WON BY J. FERRIER. . ADELAIDE, August 29. James Ferrier, of New South Wales, to-day won the Australian ’ amateur golf championship at Seaton .Park, beating .H. W. Hattersley of New South Wales, two and one after a very keen struggle, in which there was little between them.
The final of the professional championship will be played to-morrow.
WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP.
MISS BARTON’S RECORD ROUND. MELBOURNE, August 29. Miss Pam Barton, the 19-year-old golfer, who was off form yesterday, struck a good patch in the second qualifying round of the women’s golf championship to-day, when she clipped a stroke off the course record established yesterday by Miss Mona McLeod (Victoria). Miss Barton played spectacular golf, and covered the course in 78. In the two qualifying rounds, tish players filled the first four places among the 16 who qualified for the knock-out match play over 18 holes, beginning to-morrow. , Leading scores in the qualifying founds were:— Ist rd. 2nd rd.
