THE MOUNT SOMERS CLUB.
OPENING OF NEW RANGE. There was a large attendance at the official opening of the new range of the Mount Somers Miniature Rifle Club, those present including visitors from Staveley and Methven, also a number of ladies. Mr F. W. Gifkins opened the range and wished, the club a prosperous A friendly match was fired between teams representing Methven and Mount Somers, the visitors winning by nine points, details are: Methven—J. JE. Carr 79, J. Mallett 79, G. Waddington 79, M. Holland 78, S. Hyland 78, H. Noble 78, J. Rouse 76, N. Law 76; total 623. Mount Somers —G. Morgan 80, K. Dunbar 79, H. Morgan 77, Miss K. Bland 77, N. Madler 76, H. Ross 75, H. Hood 75, W. Morgan 75; total 614.
At a shoot held on Friday night, the best scores were: L. Hood 78-63; G. A. Bland 77-76; K. IDunbar 77, G. Moigan 77-75 ; G. Bland 77, Miss K. Bland 75-76; H. Hood 75, W. Morgan 75, .j. Lome 74, H. Ross 73. With 18 shoots completed, the leading scores for the Woolmers Cup are: K. Dunbar 1049, H. Hood 1040, J. Gorrie 1031, L. Hood 1030.
