THE WEATHER.
SUNSHINE THIS AFTERNOON. Forty-three points of rain fell in Ashburton yesterday afternoon and last night, making a total for the month to date of 77 points. The weather cleared this morning, and the sun broke through this afternoon. The wind blew from the southwest. The barometric pressure this morning was 30.19 inches, and temperatures yesterday varied from 48 degrees to 40.4 degrees. A frost of ..5 degrees intensity was experienced this morning.
TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This ©ay. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General inference: Though pressure has been steadily over New Zealand, it remains relatively low west of the North Island. There has been a considerable fall over eastern Australia and the western Tasman Sea. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows Moderate, to strong southerly winds, decreasing, and later tending to northeasterly and northerly. Weather fair to fine and rather milder. Seas rough north of Kaikoura, smooth to moderate thence southward.
