VICAR FAREWELLED.

PRESENTATION TO REV. D. RANKIN. FUNCTION AT TINWALD. The Rev. Duncan Rankin and Mrs Rankin, who left Ashburton to-day to live in retirement at Tauranga, were entertained! at a farewell social by parishioners of the Tinwald Anglican Church last evening. Mr R. D. Robinson (vicar’s warden), who presided, presented Mr and Mrs Rankin with a cheque from the parish and all sections of the church. Mr M. P. Coolie referred to the interest Mr Rankin had taken in giving religious instruction at the Tinwald school, . The Ven. Archdeacon A. J. ± etrie, Messrs P. J. Green, J. Clark, Mrs BScales (on behalf of the choir), and Miss M. Jennings (Sunday school) also spoke.
