TROPICAL FRUIT AT PAPEETE.

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, April 29. : Mr W. H. Barton, who went to Papeete to try the transporting of some of the more delicate tropical fruits by the dipping process that has bee; 1 , •used with success in Australia on pears and pineapples for the Home market, and who succeeded in sending a fairly large shipment of avocados and mangoes to Sydney, where they were received in excellent condition, returned by the Maunganui. Interviewed he said that the process was simple, the fruit being dipped in a solution which kept it fresh and did not spoil the flavour. Avocados were plentiful in Papeete .and would find a ready market if they could be brought into New Zealand, as they were one of the finest tropical fruits.
