CHARGE OF ASSAULT.

COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. (Special to the " Guardian.") WELLINGTON, March 13. Thomas Carroll Russell Hunter, aged 50, years, a butcher, was charged to-day with assaulting James King so as to cause him actual bodily harm, the charge being a sequel to an affair in a house in Ghuznee Street on the morning of March 3, when Hunter found his wife with King. Hunter pleaded not guilty, and after evidence had been taken, was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. King's injuries are alleged to be the result of his being hit with a broken bottle. The accused was granted a renewal of bail, but warned that he must not communicate with his wife or he will be arrested.
