TARANAKI FLOOD.
ESTIMATE OF £60,000 DAMAGE. (Per Press Association). NEW 7 PLYMOUTH, March 13. Damage to roads, bridges and semipublic utilities in the portion of Taranake immediately surroundinf Mount Egmont during the flood of February 23 totasl approximately £40,01)0, according to estimates of engineers to the seven county councils affected, and the New Plymouth Borough Council. This docs not include fairly extensive damage to the railway near Waipuku, numerous slips on tne railway between Tahora and Teao, or damage to private property, wihich is considerable. Including private property, it is expected that tne total flood damage will be between £60,000 and £70,000.
