Members of the North and South Canterbury provincial executives of the Women's Division of the New Zealand Farmers' Union met in conference with the Mid-Canterbury executive and members of Ashburton County branches in Ashburton to-day. This is the first inter-provincial conference to be held in Canterbury and many important matters came up for discussion. The president of the Mid-Canterbury executive (Mr F. Johnson) presided and others present included Mesdames B. E. Evans (a Dominion vice-presi-dent and president of the South Canterbury Executive), C. Mcintosh, of North Canterbury (another. Dominion vice-president), and H. A. Nutt (president of the North Canterbury executive). Provincial secretaries who were in charge were Mrs C. Rickard (MidCanterbury), Misses F. L. We would suggest also that the Farmers Union executive be approached as to the advisability of holding a conference on the same date." It was decided to hold another such conference in Timaru in March, 1936, and to approach the Farmers' Union to arrange a similar meeting in limaru on the same date. North Canterbury.—" That we have a discussion on the question as to whether it is in the best interests ol Canterbury to have one president lor the Dominion, or one ior the JSortii Island and one for the South Island It was decided that there should be onlv one president for the wnole Dominion. During an interesting discussion on the matter it was pointed out that having a president for eacn island would probably lead to disunity. North Canterbury .—"That we make representations to the proper quarters for the admission of a limited number of girls to Lincoln College for the purpose of studying those subjects m which they are interested." This remit was agreed to and it was resolved to approach the Board ot Governors of the College and to have the question brought before the next Dominion Conference of the Division.
