DAMAGES AWARDED.
STRUCK AND INJURED BY CAR. (Per Pross Association). WELLINGTON, August 1. An accident at Kilbirnio on the evening of May 29 last, in which Richard Charles Ingram, a retired public servant, of Rongotai, was struck by a motor-car and injured, had its sequel in a claim for £BOO damages against Robert George Thompson, a salesman, of Mirimar, which was concluded before Mr Justice MacGregor and a jury this evening. A verdict was returned in favour of Ingram, awarding him £4OO damages. The car was being driven by a son of Thompson, who was sitting alongside him. The son gained his driver s license next day. Evidence was given indicating that plaintiff walked across the street and was struck by the oncoming car. Thompson, in evidence, said he took Ingram home, and offered to get a doctor, but Ingram declined, saying it was his own fault. This was denied by Ingram's wife.
