PIGEON SHOOTING.
THE METHVEN CLUB. .
A meeting of the committee of the Methven Gun Club was presided over by the president (Mr G. A. Franks), and there was a_f ull attendance. A motion of sympathy was passed to Mr C. T. Jessep in his illness. Details were considered in connection with the forthcoming Canterbury Provincial clay-bird championship, set down for August 30 at Methven. A £SO open clay match of 17 birds will- follow. It was decided to accept the challenge from the Methven Miniature Rifle Club for the annual inter-club match on Saturday, August 23. The conditions are teams of seven men. a-side. The clay match will be held in the afternoon on the Gun Club's grounds, to be followed by the match on the rifle range at night. A cup was .received from Tisdall, Ltd., Christchurch. and it was decided that it be won twice, not necessarily in succession, the match t° be 14 clay birds at handicap distances. The president referred to Mr S. 8.. Anderson's win at Rangiora as New Zealand clay-bird champion, and said the honour was well deserved. Other members of the committee congratulated Mr Anderson on his success. Mr J. W. Drummond was elected a member of the club.
