METHVEN SHOW.

DECISIONS OF THE COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the committee of the Methven Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held last evening. Mr John Watson' presided. The Methven District High School Committee wrote with regard to obtaining the use of the Association’s building • for holding woolclassing classes. A sub-committee tv as appointed to confer with the Rev. R. Morgan and to obtain further information, regarding the classes. Mr A. M. Copland, of “Brookfield,” St. Andrews, asked that his expenses as judge .should go to the new building fund.

The Canterbury Agricultural -.and Pastoral Association wrote advising that its annual Winter Show would be held from August 10 to 24, and the Summer Show on November 14 and 15.

The Ashburton Agricultural and •Pastoral Association advised that its annual show would be held op. November 7. *

The Clydesdale Horse Society wrote advising that Mr Watson’s filly was not eligible to compete for the Society’s medal, as she was not bred by the owner. The name of the run-ner-up was asked for. The Royal Agricultural Society advised that the annual meeting and annual conference would be held on June 26 and 27, and it forwarded a long list of remits. The Canterbury Winter Show and Exhibition Association wrote advising that it had been decided to grant the sum of £7O as a subsidy to each centre entering a bay for competition at the forthcoming' Winter Show. The Ashburton Agricultural and Pastoral Association asked for delegates to meet representatives of the Ashburton and Mayfield associations with reference to exhibiting a bay at the Christchurch Winter Show. Messrs J. Watson, E. A. Bland, G. A. Franks, C. Hale and J. McAnulty were appointed. It was decided to help with the exhibit provided the expenses did not exceed the amount of the grant. Mr S. Hyland was elected a member of the Association.

Mr M. Macale brought up the question of the date of the Methven ram andi ewe fair, which he suggested should be held at a more suitable date. The matter was held over for a Tull discussion at the next meeting of the Association.
