BASKETBALL.
ASHBURTON ASSOCIATION.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Ashburton Basketball Association was held last evening, the president (Mr.R. J. Thompson) presiding: over a fair attendance. The annual report stated that the past season had been very successful. Ten teams had entered for the competitions, and the banner was won by Technical Old Girls' A team. At the "■conclusion of the competitions a knockout tournament was held, and this was also won by Technical Old Girls' A.
Two representative matches were played with Christchurch teams Ashburton winning both games. A team was entered for the Dominion tourna-j ment, which though not victorious in l all its matches, derived much benefit from their matches. # . The balance-sheet showed a credit of £2 13s Bd.
The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following officers were elected: — President, Mr R.. J. Thompson; secretary, Mib's M. Lucas. It was decided to ask each club to propose two vicepresidents. The opening day was fixed for April 28, and that entries of teams close on April 21. It was resolved that there be two grades this year—a senior and a junior —and that the teams be graded by a grading committee. f
