REVIVAL OF TRADE.
THE WORLD OUTLOOK. INDICATION OF PERMANENCY. (A.P.A. nnd "Sun" Cables.) (Received This Day, 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, 'January 19. "Looking to the future, there is good ground for confidence," said Mi F. C. Goodenough (chairman of Barclay's Bank) at a meeting of shareholders; "both industry and trade in Britain are showing indications of a substantial revival. The continuous progress, of the stabilisation of currencies and world prices affords reasonable expectation that the improvement in trade we are now experiencing mav be more permanent than similar revivals in recent years, which have proved only temporary." ■ "* Regarding the suggestion of a tariff agreement between the principal Euro- 1 pean States, he sfoid this might benefit Europe as a whole, but Germany would be. the chief gainer. It would certainly be more in our interests to devote our energies increasingly toward the development of the Empire. There was no doubt the prosperity of Britain and of the empire was dependent upon the development of areas within the Empire through intra-Imperial finance and trade.
