ROAD BOARD.
THE LONCBEACH DISTRICT. The monthly meeting of the Longbeach Road Board was held yesterday, those present being Messrs J. P. McQuilkin (chairman), W. J. Anderson, A. Moore, H. Watts and L. Maginness. The overseer reported that Poplar, Middle and Tui Boads had received attention. It was decided to proceed with the work of cleaning the Wheatstone drain. The clerk submitted an estimate of the funds in sight to March 31, 1928. He reported that timber had been purchased for O'Shaugnes'sy's drain, and the bridge near Mr Stevenson's property on Dawson's Road, and that the work of erecting these bridges would be put in hand' immediately. It was decided to impose the 10 per cent, penalty on all rates not paid by February 14. " The sale of the sole right to cut cocksfoot on all roads in the board's 5 district realised £32 10s. Numerous complaints having been received regarding straying stock, it was decided to deal stringently with this matter. It was reported that the board's credit account stood at £4O 17s 7d, and the cemeterv account at £23 lis. The transfer of property, 10 acres, from the estate of the late K. Maginness to A. L. J. Pratley, Longbeach, was approved.
