METHVEN GUN CLUB.
THE ANNUAL MEETING. GOOD FINANCIAL JPOSITION. The annual meeting of the Methven Gun Club was held in the Public Hall last evening, the president (Mr A. A. McLeod 1 ) occupied the chair and there was a good attendance. The report stated that the club had had a most successful year. The- open matches arranged during the season were attended with every success, shooters being present from all parts of Canterbury. The national match attracted competitors from as far 1 north as Auckland, Including many of the 'Dominion's most successful shots. The club matches were well maintained. It was the wish of the executive to encourage young shots and to this end members were invited to bring forward suggestions that would minimise the cost of the sport to them. During the season the club installed a Black Diamond automatic trap, which had proved a great success. Two challenges were made for the C.A.C. Challenge Cup, the team being successful on the second occasion. The final shoot for this cup took place on the Ellesmere Club's ground when it was won outright by that club.
The balance-sheet showed a good position, the ftalanee of cash and assets over liabilities heing £165 18s 6d. The executive placed on record sincere thanks to donors of prizes and to supporters of the club for assistance rendered. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr C. T. Jessep; vice-presi-dent, Mr C. H. Anderson; club captain. Mr L. C. Anderson; hon. treasurer, Mr H. Green (re-elected); hon. secretary, Mr W. J. Burrows (re-elect-ed); committee, Messrs A. A. McLeod, G.' A. Franks, W. J. Cooksley, E. F. Ward. J. Garden. T. S. Harrison; ground committee, Messrs 6. H. Anderson and C C. Winn; handicappers and referees, Messrs C. C. W T inn and G. J. Heney; team selection committee, Messrs Jessep, T. S. and L. C. Anderson. The question of providing for young members was referred to the incoming committee for report. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the outgoing officials and a special vote was recorded to the Press reporters for their assistance. It was decided to hold the opening shoot of the season on Saturday, April 7. At the conclusion of the business a successful smoke social was held and a long toast list honoured, Those contributing items were Messrs G. J. Heney, L. C. Anderson, G. Cookson, C T. Jessep, Mr T. Macartney acting as accompanist.
