THEFT FROM THE PERSON
I YOUNG MAN DENIES OFFENCE. (IVr Proso AserMMfltiot) ' PALMERSTON N., May 1. Allegations that he had been asked to go to the Esplanade to assist at a horse sale, that he had been invited to participate in a game of cards, and that he had finally been robbed, were made by Stanley Gibson, one-time farmer of Taumarunui, and now of Uiristchurch, at the Police Court this morning. . , tj Denholm Gillespie, alias John Harris, a; well-dressed young man, was charged with the theft of £<3. Accused it is alleged, was one of a party of three, who worked together. Gillespie pleaded not guilty and was. committed to the Supreme Court tor trial.
