The Ulster Parliament, after a heated debate, accepted the proposal of Sir James Craig (Premier) to pay members £2OO a year for expenses. Many members strongly opposed the proposal, describing it as lmmiliating and disgusting. Sir James Craig replied that Parliament should be open to the poor as well as the rich.
