THE ENGLISH PIERROTS.
THEARTE ROYAL— TO-NIGHT. Without doubt the best-known company of its kind appearing m Australasit are the "English Pierrots," who will visit Ashburton to-night and Monday evening m the Theatre Royal. During their recent season m Auckland, which is a of seven weeks, most liberal praise was bestowed on the combination by the Pressl The "Herald" says: "With the presentation of an excellent programme, the English Pierrots immediately established themselves as favourites, the initial appearance being marked by a budget of items of music, mirth, and melody that was highly entertaining. The hall was filled to its utmost capacity with an audience which expressed every satisfaction with the programme and constantly demanded encores. The feature of the programme was the male quartette.- Their singing was harmonious and their treatment of the ' Soldiers' Chorus ' from Faust was particularly fine. The English Pierrots present a programme of' unusual variety, including excerpts from opera, quartettes, and solos, latest London ■sketches, dramatic items, dances, etc., m revue style, under the title of ' Bits and Pieces.' The revue class of amusement is popular throughout the world, and this company is exceedingly fortunate m securing a London producer m Lieutenant Edmund Warrington, who is giving a variety of dramatic and humorous items, assisted by members of -the company. 'A Dud Dream.' which is included m the opening bill, is an original sketch still bemg shown on the London stage. Theatregoers can feel assured of a good night's amusement at the Pierrots' entertainment." The box plan is at The Bristol.
