HIGHBANK.

The last week has been one of real winter —hail, rain, and snow until Saturday, when it turned out -a fine spring day, followed by a. sharp frost at night, which was repeated, on Sunday. There was a good congregation at the Anglican Church, when the Peace Thanksgiving service was held, the vicar (the Rev. Mr Sparrow) officiating. On Friday last- the bachelors .. or Hi»hbank held a highly sucecessful dance in. the school, the room being crowded. Mr Y. Vaughan, who acted as secretary and M.C., carried out his duties in a very able- manner. Misses Moffat and Horsfield and Mr Campbell provided the music. The school has closed down Tor its two weeks' winter holidays.
