DUNEDIN, June 1
The Dunedin Jockey Club's winter meeting was opened in cold_ and showery weather, the track being sloppy. Tho attendance was fair, and the totalisator investments wore £16.705 10s, against £24.661 on the corresponding clay last year. Tho war tax was ,£375 19s Gd. Concluding results: —
Tradesmen's Handicap.—Marsa 1, Twelfth. Night 2. Caraid Dileas 3. Won easily by four lengths; two lengths between second and third. Time, lmin 17 2-ssec. * Hunters' Steeplechase.—lkowai 1, Woilwood 2. St. Pedro 3. Won by eight lengths $■> four lengths between second and tii/ird. Time, 4min 59sec.
Winter Welter Handicap.—Tlrooksdalo 1, All Ready 2, Lady Trent 3. Won by'a head; five lengths between second and third. Time, lmin 46sec.
The stewards fined Feilding, the rider of tho winner of tho Steeplechase, £5 for interfering with Tho Gunner ,ha]i a mile from homo.
