ACCIDENTS & DEATHS.

An accident of a peculiar "nature caused a mild sensation ■, in Tailored, Street just before 2 o'clock this afternoon. A light gig, of the sulky type,, was being driven across the railway line when by some means, one wheeJ. feli off. Tiie man who was driving maintained his hold off the reins, but the horse- bolted, and careered tip Tancrcd Street. The unfortunate occupant had his legs caught in the springs • of the vehicle, and was unable to move or 'to jump out. Tho horse dragged tho gig along at a remarkable speed,, and narrowly missed colliding with two t motor-ears. Eventually horse, gig, and man were precipitated into 1 the" gutter in front of St. Stephen's Church. . The vehicle was badly knocked- about, but' the driver was lucky .to got off with a. few cuts and bruises. The, horse did not appear to be injurod.
