MEAT EXPORT.
CARGOES FOR IMPERIAL TROOPS (Per Press Association), v WELLINGTON, August 12. Already this month, live big steamers have beon despatched with full cargoes of meat purchased under the Imperial Government meat supply scheme. These, are the- Indrapura, La Blanca, Delphic, Athenic, and .Corinthic.. Five others—the Ruahine, Somerset, Opawa, Tainui, and Makarini, are timed to leave by the 29th inst. Since the inauguration of the scheme 30 steamers have been despatched, 1 carrying 153,436 quarters. of beef, 1' 1,1-16,115 carcases 6f -.mutton and 1,767,873 carcases of lamb, purchased on behalf of the Imperial Government, and 13,751; . quarters 'of, beef, •92,058. carcases of mutton and 124,117 carj cases of lamb have been loaded into the . five vessels a.t present on the,, loading berth in the Dominion. _ The meat in store awaiting shipment on the 31st ult. was equal to 1,865,283 601b carcases, and the total payments up to and including the 10th inst. amount to £3,375,755 19s sd.
