KRUPP'S NAVAL GUN
Mr Charles M. Schwab,, the head of the Bethlehem Company, which has arranged to. supply munitions to the Allies, says, according to the Now York correspondent of-the "Daily News" and "Leader," that the.Krupp gun is the poorest naval gun in'existence. "Battleships," says Mr Schwab, "have passed beyond the antiquated crucible steel gun. Germany's vessels ares the sole possessors of these Krupp weapons." In Mr Schwab's opinion, the British Nay}- will always win in naval battles with the German, where, ship for ship, the odds are anything like equal. "The ability to-handle,-machinery by the individual soldier occupies the position in warfare once held by valour. F/ance leads all other Powers in developing light machinery.- The same is true of small effective weapons. The majority of the fighting automobile drivers are Frenchmen. They are born artisans. « j "Germany," continued Mr Schwab, j "is splendidly equipped on land, though even here she is being beaten by the British and French latest guns. The, i control of the seven seas, however, has i always been England's policy. In order to win, Germany, must equal Britain's Fleet. Nations controlling the seas have ruled the world in the past £ and I it always will be so." , Mr Schwab particularly.,, brought out the point that, however strong Gerirnany is on land, she can never win this "war. because she' cannot equal j Great Britain at sea. This he considers J amply proved already, and he thinks that the Gorman leaders are themselves , aware of this.
