Soldiers from North Schleswig who have returned from the Argonne de- ; clare that the value of human life in the Ci'own Prince's Army since the war begun lias never been lower. Enormous quantities of alcohol are distributed daily. The most effective drink, -, popularly' known as "The Crown Prince's' Mixture," is. composed- of ether and arrack. A bottle is handed to each soldier in the trenches prior to a great onslaught. One frequently sees soldiers maddened by drink charging with a bottle in one hand and a bomb in the other, utterly dazed and oblivious to danger.
