TRENCH WARFARE.
ARMOUR FOR COMBATANTS
LONDON, July 23.
France is about .to supply tho men in the trenches with a special helmet of heavy steel, with great resisting power. The walls protecting tho skull are very thick. Its weight prevents its use in open warfare, but it is considered that it will enormously reduce- the trench mortality, which is largely due to head wounds. At present it is not proposed to supply breast plates to the infantry, but experts consider that a continuance of ■trench warfare will lead to bombthrowers and wire-cutters; being more heavily armoured than the knights who fought at" Agincourt.. . . . . ■LONDON, July 24.:. The' authorities are* considering the question of supplying British soldiers in the trenches with metalheadpieces similar-to the French.
