TEN PEOPLE LOSE THEIR LIVES

(Received December 17, 1.45 p.m.) NEW YORK, December 16. Fire destroyed an apartment house, and several of the occupants saved their lives by thrilling jumps to the^pavement. A woman and a fireman cued in the flames, which enveloped the build-! ing in a lew minutes. An enormous crowd' witnessed the fire, and there was great excitement. Another fire, believed to be due to incendiaries destroyed the Salvation Army shelter at Cincinatti. Eight occupants, were killed, and others are reported to be missing. The bodies of those recovered were burnt to cinders.
