A deputation from the Cooks' and Waiters' Conference waited on tji© 'Minister of Labour with .a request for. assistance m ameliorating the Jot of the workers m their calling, Tb.e speakers strongly condemned the con? ditions under which cooks and waiters had to work ; and the Minister said that the hours mentioned were, to say the least, unreasonable, and he would lessen them if he could do so.
