In response to my suggestnn that the Bill was a very great modification of last year's limitation proposals, the Minister said : "The large mvn-srs have in great numbers expressed their regret that the Bill of last year was silandjn- ! cd. They infinitely .prefer the j revisions of last year, that allowed the £50,000 worth of country land and an unlimited quantity of town land being retained subject to no taxation. Now they have got to add town" land on to country land, and the screw begins to come on at £40,000. Under last year's proposals there were men who would have been able to hold from £1000,000 to £150,000, worth of land free.from the graduated tax. Under the present legislation these men will have to pay a great deal more."Questioned as. to whether there were many holding land in town and country/Mr McNab said that there was a .considerable number, and an enormous holding inside the towns,
