ASHBURTON STOCK SALE, There was a fair attendance at t/he weekly stock sale held at the Ashburton yards to-day, and tho yarding, which consisted of 22 cattle and 3500 sheep, was about the average of late markets. Tho yarding of cattle comprised fats only, no stores coming forward. A large proportion of the fats were unfinished, and butchers failed to give up to owners' reserves, consequently the bulk of the market was passed by auction. Steers made from £5 to £6 10s-, heifers, £5 10s to £7 ss; one cow brought £3 10s. Sales were: Two heifers (turnip fed), £7 ss; 1 steer, £5 15s; 3 do, £6 10s; 2 do, £5 ; 1 heifer, £5 10s; 1 cow, £3 10s. Sheep—The yarding of fat sheep was very small, only 608 head being penned. Ewes brought from 12s to 15s, one prime line of merino ewes bringing 12s lid. Lambs.—Lambs formed the bulk, of the market and the quality being prime, a good clearance was effected at prices well up to late markets. Prime freezers made from 17s 7d to 18s 3d, medium quality 15s 4d to 16s 4d, unfinished 12s 1 6d to 13s 9d.
