Hibernian Catholic Benefit Society.

United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph. TtiiAßtr, Feb. 24 The triennial meeting of the Board of Delegates of the Hibernian Catholic Benefit Society of New Zealand opened here to-day. Five district officers and 33 delegates representing 27 branches, were present. Apostolic benediction was received from Cardinal Moran, Sydney, and congratulatory telegrams from the Bishops of Auckland and Christchurch. The president, Hon. "W. Beehan, M.L.C., gave an opening address of a congratulatory nature. The report of district officers for the past six months was a brief one. Funeral claims amounting to £280 had been paid, the balance to the credit of this fund being £500. The credit balance of the incidental fund,was ,£l6O. The statistics of membership are not available today. The rules have been revised and registered^ It was reported that the Wellington branch has been fined Jg3 far circulating a document contrary to the rules (this advocated the removal of headquarters from Auckland to Wellington). Tho motion to adopt the report was debated all the afternoon, on objections to the fine imposed on the Wellington branch. Finally the report was adopted, a resolution being carried m effect, recommending that, the executive remit the fine.
