Band Contest.
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph iNVERCARfiu.r,, Feb 24 Regarding the Band Contest m October or November next, it has been, decided to offer the following prizes:—Test Selection, first £150, second £70, third fourth MO; Quickstep .£3O, .£2O, and £10. These are the largest prizes ever offered m New Zealand. For the Solo Competition, gold and silver medals are offered. One test selection and the solos will be ordered from Boosey and Co., and the other selection, quartettes and trios from Smith's " Champion Journal." The bands will play their own marches m the quickstep. ;
