. It is not generally knewn ihtt To Kooti has established a new religion, which ia oiled Kirnkala, and that there B re a large number of natives m the North Island who follow this creed. Near Gisborne a small gathering of them reside, and to viait this branch of hii flock was the old chief 'a objeot ia ln-> timating his intention of passing through the Poverty Bay dlstriot. There axe also In the same plaoe a number of Maori Mormons, the religion of Salt Luke Olty haviog been received with favor by the natives In many parti of the North island. Besides these two sects the Maori Missionaries under the Bishop of Walapa ate making many convicts, and Te Kooti thinks that it is as necessary for him to shepherd his flook as it is far the Blibop or the Mormon Elder
