BOWLED OUT.
The -ministers wife sat. on the front porch mending the clothes of one of her numerous progeny. A neighbour passing that way stepped m for a friendly chat. A large work basket half full of buttons stood on the floor of the porch. After variouß remarks of a gossipy nature, the visitor said, " You seem to be pretty well supplied with buttons, Mrs Goodman." *' Yes, very well indeed." "My gracious, if there ain't two of the same buttons that my husband had on his laet winter suit I'd know 'em anywhere " " Indeed," said the minister's wife, ca'miy. I'm surprised to hear it, as all of these buttons were found m the contribution box. I thought I might as well put them to some use, so I— what, you must go. Well, be sure and call again Boon."
