WAIOURU

The occasion of the Governor General’s visit to the Waiouru Military Camp on Tuesday, November 4th, marked a memorable day for the newly formed Camp Band, which is under the conductorship of Lieut. F. Kirkby.

This official visit was the occasion of the largest Ceremonial Parade to be held under the lee of Ruapehu and it necessitated many strenuous hours of rehearsal.

The local weather lived up to its reputation during the preceeding days but decidedly improved as the ViceRegal car aproached the dais.

As the Governor took up his position the Royal Salute was given and was followed - by the Ceremonial March Past, the Band playing stirring marches.

After changing the Guard the Band gave an exhibition march which

included the Slow March “Scipio” and to conclude a busy day, played the following programme at the official dinner.

PROGRAMME:

. March, “Sandhurst,” Greenwood; Overture “Lonely Mill,” Lancaster; Valse, “Allerednic,” Raymond; Selection, “Saxonhurst,” LeClare; Fox Trot, “Good Morning Sgt.-Major,” McAnally; Medley, “1914,” MacKenzie; March,. “Liverpool,” Greenwood.
