TRENTHAM

During a lull in Band proceedings on Thursday, Bandsman Jeffries, of whom has been gifted with a fine young kettle-drum player by Mrs. Jeffries.

A shower of congratulations were bestowed on Jeff on his grand achievement' and was presented by the members of the Trentham Camp Band with a suitable present to himself and Mrs. Jeffries. Captain .Pike, in making the presentation gave some fatherly advice and on behalf of the Band boys wished both Mr. and Mrs. Jeffries future happiness. ;

Bandsman Jeffries, on rising to respond, was greeted with much applause, thanked Captain Pike for his advice and for the kind words spoken also for the very nice present and would convey to Mrs. Jeffries the good wishes from the various members of the Band. <? ,

Another congratulatory message was bestowed to Bandsman Denne on his 21st birthday from his Band associates. Bandsman Dennes’ promise for an ice-cream supper was met with acclamation. “For They are Jolly Good Fellows” terminated an interesting half hour. 1 . .

The military display given by the Trentham Military Band at the. General 1 Review on the occasion of the Governor’s visit was most favourably commented on by the various officers present, including Captain Cronin, a returned officer from abroad. ■; *

Captain Cronin’s remarks that the display of \ the Trentham Military Band was the best he had witnessed from any Military Band in New Zealand was' very complimentary indeed and reflects the greatest of credit to Captain Pike and Staff-Sgt.-Major Smith, the officers in charge. ’

Very favourable comments have been received from far and near on the recent broadcast by the Band.

The next broadcast will take plane on the 28th November. The following items will be played.
