Turbine Locomotive.

Germany is making a good show in the railway world. In this connection a provisional patent has been secured in Italy for a turbine locomotive which comes from Charlottenburg. The steam turbine is adapted to the locomotive by dividing it up into sections and distributing one on each driving axle, the steam from the boiler passing through the several sections in succession. A turbine is fitted on the axle on the outside

of each driving wheel, and there will be driving axles. The steam is conveyed from the boiler to the first turbine on the one side, then to the other two turbines in succession on that side. It then passes on to the three turbines in succession on the other side of the locomotive, from the third of which the exhaust steam pipe leads to the steam-blast nozzle.
