No. 258, 1903. —Petition of Hone Kerei (Gray) and Another. Petitioners protest against the finding of the Native Affairs Committee in regard to the petition of T. R. Ellison on the question of land at Waikouaiti, claimed under the will of the late Katerina Hape, and pray that no steps may be taken to carry out the rejommendation referred to. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make with regard to this petition. 20th August, 1903.

No. 368, 1903.—Petition of Kerei te Otatu. Petitioner prays that his claims to the Wharepu No. 1 Block, near Wairoa, Hawke's Bay, may be further investigated. I am directed to report that the Committee recommends that this petition should be referred to the Government with a view of having legislation introduced to enable a rehearing to be held. 20th August, 1903.

Kua whakahaua ahau kia ki penei, kite whakaaro o te Komiti me tuku atu tenei pitihana ki te Kawanatanga he mea kia paahitia he ture kia taea ai he whakawa tuarua. 20 o Akuhata, 1903.

No. 434, 1903.—Petition of Teone Paraone and Another, of Taumutu, Canterbury. Petitioners complain that land at Taumutu, on the shores of Lake Ellesmere, intended for the sole use of the Maoris of that district, has gone into the hands of one person on a ninety-nine years lease. They pray that the said lease may be determined and the land handed over to the rightful owners. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make with regard to this petition. 20th August, 1903.

E ki ana nga kai-pitihana ko te whenua i Taumutu, i te tahatika o Waihora (Lake Ellesmere), i whakaritea nei hei kainga mo nga Maori anake o taua Takiwa, kua riro i te tangata kotahi,t runga i te riihi mo nga tau c 99 ; c inoi ana ratou kia whakamutua taua riihi a kia whakahokia atu taua whenua ki nga tangata tika no ratou taua whenua. Kua whakahaua ahau kia ki penei, kaore kau a te Komiti kupu mo runga i tenei pitihana. 20 o Akuhata, 1903.

No. 205, 1903.—Petition of Ruta Manuahura. Petitioner prays for a grant of 7 acres, as balance of an award of 76 acres made to her in 1882 by Judge Mair, out of which only 68 were allotted to her near Te Puke. I am directed to report that the Committee recommends that this petition should be referred to the Government for inquiry. 20th August, 1903,
