No. 513, 1903.—Petition of Taituha Hape and 14 Others. Petitioners protest against any increase in rates on Maori lands. I am directed to report that, as the Government has a measure before the House which deals with the question of rates on Maori lands, the Committee has no recommendation to make. 9th September, 1903.

No. 380, 1902.—Petition of Mere Ngue. Petitioner prays for rehearing as to succession to Hemi Paraire, deceased owner in Lot 226, Pukete, and Lot 204, Komakorau. I am directed to report that the Committee is satisfied that the petitioner has good grounds for her petition, but, as there is still a remedy open under section 39 of " The Native Land Court Act, 1894," it has no recommendation to make. 9th September, 1903.

No. 515, 1903.—Petition of Raiha Kopu and 2 Others. Petitioners pray that a title may be issued to them for the Kopu Reserve. I am directed to report that the Committee recommends that this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 9th September, 1903.

No. 782, 1901. —Petition of Rameka Takurua and 14 Others. Petitioners object to Motuotera Block being included in Poroikamoana, as they allege it belongs to Te Whanau-a-te-Kaipakihi. I am directed to report that the Committee recommends that this petition should be referred to the Government for inquiry. 9th September, 1903.
